With his performance in Chengdu, where he won his second championship of the year (after Hamburg), the German climbed from eighth to seventh place in the Live Race.

As of right moment, the 26-year-old holds a 215-point advantage over Holger Rune for eighth and last qualifying place.

Due to an ankle injury sustained at Roland Garros, Zverev was unable to compete in the 2017 Nitto ATP Finals.

The two-time season-finale champion is vying for a sixth consecutive spot at the year-end championships.
