Randy Travis Receives a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Randy Travis further solidified his status as a celebrity whose artistic appeal extends well beyond country music on September 29, 2004, which was nineteen years ago today. 

The actor, singer, and songwriter was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on that very day.

Regarding the occasion, Travis remarked, "I feel out of place, but it's a great honor" (quote via Country Weekly). "Most of the people are actors, and I'm a singer first and foremost."

The Grand Ole Opry member was in the prime of his career when he won his star. 

Travis was about to release his gospel album, Passing Through, and had recently finished recording "Three Wooden Crosses," his crossover No. 1 smash, less than two years prior to receiving this distinction.
