Randy Travis performed for the first time since his stroke in 2013 at the burial of Kiepersol Estates founder Pierre de Wet on Feb. 3.
Before his death on Jan. 26, the 61-year-old South African native had arranged his funeral, which took place at the KE Bushman Celebration Centre in Bullard, Texas,
to be a celebration of life, complete with unique cuisine, wine, and music. According to Bullard Banner News, Travis performed "Amazing Grace" in front of over 1,000 people, with Keipersol Estates employees and their families joining in.
There is no video of Travis' performance, but a photo in the newspaper's funeral story shows Travis dressed in a dark suit and a white dress shirt with an open collar.
Travis has made many public appearances after his life-threatening stroke, including a September engagement at the Grand Ole Opry and a surprise
appearance at the 2015 ACM Awards, which he followed with a poignant letter to his fans, which he posted on his website.
"Words can never express my gratitude to those who continue to believe in me, pray for me and keep me lifted up in thought and deed," Travis wrote in the letter.
