Is Colorado eligible for the bowl? Explaining Deion Sanders' road to the 2023 college football bowl game

Colorado and Deion Sanders are involved in three of the top five most watched college football games of the 2023 football season. Imagine the ratings for a Buffaloes bowl game with that knowledge.

Colorado (4-3, 1-3 Pac-12) returns to national attention on Saturday. The Buffaloes take on No. 23 UCLA on ABC at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Colorado must win two of its next five games to be bowl eligible in Sanders' debut season. A 46-43 double-overtime loss to Stanford on Oct. 23 lowered those chances.

Here's a look at Colorado's chances of making a bowl game heading into Week 9: No, not yet. In the 2023-24 season, there are 43 bowl games,

with most requiring a minimum of six wins. If the bowl berths are not filled, 5-7 teams will make the postseason.

Colorado would be an appealing five-win team in that situation, but winning six wins ensures a bowl bid.

Here's a look at Colorado's remaining schedule, which includes three teams rated in the Associated Press Top 25. The remaining opponents for the Buffaloes have a combined record of 25-10.

At the Rose Bowl, the Bruins are a 17-point favourite. UCLA leads the Pac-12 in both scoring defence (14.9) and overall defence (282.6).
