and the team at Newbury's The Watermill Theatre announced that their 12-week production of THE LORD OF THE RINGS has sold out, with over 17,000
tickets sold to national and international audiences, with over 47% of the audience being first-time visitors.
The Watermill's largest production, THE LORD OF THE RINGS, based on J.R.R. Tolkien's classic trilogy, will close on Sunday,
October 15, 2023. It features book and lyrics by Shaun McKenna and Matthew Warchus, music by Oscar and BAFTA Award winner A.R. Rahman (Bombay Dreams,
Värttinä, and Tony Award winner and Grammy nominated Christopher Nightingale (Matilda the Musical).
To bring the production to two stages, one in the auditorium and one in the gardens, 21 actors rehearsed for 6 weeks (twice the typical period) and had 20 technical sessions.
A 32-person backstage, technical, FOH, and Box Office team supports the cast.
