Customer Management Lessons from Taylor Swift's "1989"

On Wednesday, the Billboard 200 album sales chart for the upcoming week will be released.

It will show that Taylor Swift's new album "1989" topped the chart with more than a million copies sold in its first week of release.

The first million-plus seller since Swift's own 2012 release, "Red," will be "1989."

Swift's album will become the third to reach the million sales mark; no other musician has ever accomplished this feat with more than two albums.

Furthermore, if the album keeps performing better than early tracking, its first week total may surpass the 1.208 million sales of her own song "Red"

and the 1.319 million of Britney Spears' "Oops...I Did it Again." The latter is the greatest sum that a female release has ever attained.

This astounding level of success follows several weeks in a row—really, an entire year—of underwhelming album sales results.
