Braves make a number of roster changes before the offseason

With the Rangers leading the series 3-1, there's a chance the World Series concludes tonight when they play the Diamondbacks in Game 5.

If that occurs, all 30 teams' MLB offseason will have formally begun. But the Braves have begun work on several of their offseason projects already.

They made their first impression last week when Pierce Johnson was signed to a two-year contract.

They have changed a few players on the roster today.Gwinnett has acquired Ben Heller and Andrew Velazquez outright.

The Baltimore Orioles have claimed Sam Hilliard off waivers in the meantime.Sam Hilliard is the first of several players the Braves will be bringing back off the 60-day injured list this winter.

As a result, cutting some players will inevitably be necessary. For a brief period in April,

Hilliard was a reliable member of the Braves starting lineup.

With a.909 OPS in his first 18 games (13 starts), he hit over.300. But in the end,
