A peaceful Azusa neighborhood was the setting for a shooting and stabbing on Sunday that resulted in multiple injuries due to a Halloween celebration.
On Monday, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department (LASD) deputies were interviewing neighbors and searching for surveillance footage that might be useful for the inquiry.
Residents in Azusa who reside close to Banewell Avenue have reported that at approximately 10:30 p.m., gunshots broke out at a Halloween celebration. Young individuals were present.
"When everything happened, the kids came and screamed," stated Vanessa Gomez, a neighbor near the location of the incident. "I heard children screaming."
Four victims of gunshot wounds were taken to nearby hospitals, according to LASDl. They all said they were young folks, but they didn't say how old. Moreover, there is a stab wound.
Christian Mendez, the victim's cousin, claimed, "My cousin got stabbed, and I saw what happened. Within 30 seconds, I heard gunshots and started running."
As the witness pointed to his arm and body, saying, "He was stabbed here and here," he also claimed that he had been struck in the face with metal knuckles.
A neighbor who wished to remain anonymous reported that during the mayhem that the celebration had unleashed, a man attempted to seek safety in his yard.
