A well-known name replaces the long snapper void for the Detroit Lions.

Long snapper Jake McQuaide, an experienced player, has joined the practice squad of the Detroit Lions,

the team announced on Wednesday. The announcement was made just one day after the Lions placed former long snapper Scott Daly on injured reserve on Monday night due to a knee ailment."

Surgery will be required for him. Losing this one is difficult, coach Dan Campbell remarked on Tuesday.

"I'm delighted you brought him up because, as you may have noticed, not many people discuss Daly.

You don't discuss the long snapper unless something negative occurs, and we hadn't really spoken about Daly since (Lions Special Assistant Football Operations Don Muhlbach) left,

which was the play in which I made the mistake. And from then on, Daly, man, just got bigger.

He grew after accepting the task. And he has really just been a pillar of support for us. And he gets better every year.

Even though it hurts, he was enjoying the best year yet. Losing him will be painful. He's been incredibly helpful to us, but we'll work things out and continue on.
