A Florida man was busted for stealing over $9,000 in petrol from Orange County Wawa shops last year.
FOX 35 Orlando reported that Yerrison Perez was charged with three grand theft and one plot to defraud counts on Friday. He was detained on an active warrant on September 8.
The arrest was reported Friday by FDACS. Orlando police arrested Perez for fuel theft on August 19, 2022.
Perez took gas from three Wawa stores between June 17 and July 7, 2022, according to officials.
At least 1,300 liters of petrol worth over $9,000 were stolen.
FDACS investigated unusual gasoline thefts last year. Video helped investigators find Perez.
"Based on video evidence, business records, bank records, and other investigative techniques,
OALE (Office of Agricultural Law Enforcement) positively identified Perez as the suspect," FDACS said.
"This arrest is evidence that our continued collaboration with our law enforcement partners is successful in busting these criminals and should serve as a warning
